CVE‑2025‑62215 es una vulnerabilidad crítica de condición de carrera en el Kernel de Windows que fue parcheada por Microsoft en su lanzamiento de Patch Tuesday de noviembre de 2025. SOC Prime La falla permite a un atacante con acceso local de bajo privilegio explotar una condición de ‘doble liberación’ en la memoria del kernel y escalar privilegios a SYSTEM. SOC Prime Debido a que se explota activamente y afecta a todas las ediciones compatibles del sistema operativo Windows (y ESU para Windows 10), las organizaciones enfrentan un riesgo real de compromiso total del sistema.
Investigación
Investigadores de seguridad descubrieron que la vulnerabilidad proviene de una condición de carrera donde varios hilos acceden al mismo recurso del kernel sin la sincronización adecuada, desencadenando un escenario de corrupción de memoria del kernel (‘doble liberación’) que permite a los atacantes secuestrar el flujo de ejecución. Aunque debe haber acceso inicial (por ejemplo, a través de phishing o RCE anterior), el exploit se utiliza luego para elevar privilegios, recopilar credenciales y facilitar el movimiento lateral. Debido a que el exploit es sencillo en concepto pero poderoso en resultado, ya está señalado como usado en la naturaleza.
Mitigación
Las organizaciones deben aplicar el parche de Microsoft que aborda CVE‑2025‑62215 inmediatamente. Además, reduzca el riesgo de incursiones iniciales aplicando el principio de privilegios mínimos para el acceso de usuarios, deshabilitando derechos de administrador local innecesarios y monitoreando comportamientos inusuales de escalamiento de privilegios locales. Los defensores deberían desplegar reglas de detección en el endpoint dirigidas a detectar corrupción de memoria o creación inusual de procesos desde cuentas de servicio a nivel del kernel. Dada la naturaleza a nivel de kernel de la falla, mantener una disciplina robusta de parcheo y usar controles de seguridad en capas (por ejemplo, EDR, verificaciones de integridad del kernel) es crucial.
Respuesta
Si se sospecha que su entorno ha sido explotado mediante esta vulnerabilidad, aísle los hosts potencialmente afectados, revise los inicios de sesión locales recientes y los eventos de escalamiento de privilegios, y busque signos de suplantación de tokens o ejecuciones de procesos a nivel SYSTEM. Re imagen dispositivos afectados si es necesario y rote credenciales para cuentas que puedan haber sido comprometidas. Informe los detalles del incidente a su equipo de operaciones de seguridad y actualice sus playbooks de detección/caza para incluir la cadena de explotación de esta vulnerabilidad (acceso inicial → exploit local → escalamiento de privilegios del kernel). Finalmente, asegúrese de que los ciclos de parcheo futuros incluyan la verificación de instalación y monitoreo de intentos de re-explotación.
